History of David Clark Company (Aviation/Communications)
  • 1935: David Clark began in the textile business, later focusing on protective equipment, including high-altitude pressure suits for military pilots.
  • Early 1970s: Leveraged experience with intercoms in high-altitude suits to develop pilot headsets.
  • 1975: Introduced the Model 10BB/F, one of the first reliable noise-attenuating aviation headsets.
  • 1980s: Entered the fire/emergency communication market.
  • 2008 - entered the marine market around 2008 following a request to solve high-noise communication issues for U.S. Customs interceptor boats
Key Communication Milestones
  • Apollo Communications Carrier: Developed the "Snoopy cap" worn by all Apollo astronauts for communications during lunar missions.
  • Space Shuttle: Developed headsets for shuttle crews and NASA's Space Shuttle Advanced Crew Escape Suits.
  • Military & Commercial: Known for supplying noise-canceling headsets to both military branches and general/commercial aviation pilots.
